Mice-Damaged Crocus

This is almost certainly mice damage on the remains of these sprouted crocus corms. Pity. They were just about to break through the soil surface. The mice must have smelled them.

Put some bait under an upturned plant saucer to protect the birds. A bit late now, though - nearly all crocus are gone. First year this has happened.
